The CHRA is the core component of a turbocharger containing the turbine shaft, compressor wheel, and bearing system. It's installed between the turbine and compressor housings. Example: Cummins ISX15 turbocharger CHRA assembly.
The turbine housing directs exhaust gases onto the turbine wheel to drive the compressor. It's mounted on the exhaust manifold. Example: Volvo D13 turbine housing A/R 1.15.
The compressor wheel draws in and compresses air for the engine intake. It's located in the compressor housing. Example: Detroit Diesel Series 60 compressor wheel.
The Variable Geometry Turbo actuator controls vanes in the turbine housing to optimize boost at different engine speeds. It's mounted on the turbo housing. Example: Caterpillar C13 VGT actuator.
A wastegate regulates boost pressure by diverting exhaust gases away from the turbine wheel. It's typically mounted on the turbine housing. Example: Ford Powerstroke 6.7L wastegate assembly.
This line supplies engine oil to lubricate and cool the turbocharger bearings. It connects the engine block to the turbo center housing. Example: Mack MP8 turbo oil feed pipe.
The compressor housing contains the compressor wheel and converts its rotational energy into pressure. It's mounted on the cold side of the turbo. Example: John Deere 6090 compressor housing.
These studs secure the turbocharger to the exhaust manifold and provide proper alignment. They're critical for preventing exhaust leaks. Example: International DT466 turbo mounting stud kit.
Intercooler pipes route compressed air from the turbo to the intercooler and then to the engine intake. They're part of the charge air system. Example: Peterbilt 389 intercooler pipe assembly.

Solution: Replace turbocharger CHRA assembly (Part# 409410-0002) and oil feed line. Check intercooler for oil contamination. Verify proper crankcase ventilation system operation.
Prevention: Regular oil changes with recommended viscosity, proper warm-up/cool-down cycles, monitoring boost pressure and exhaust temperatures.
